Synopsis
Solastalgia — a form of mental or existential distress caused by environmental change — is at the heart of this short documentary that reflects on climate change, nostalgia, and loss through the eyes of Serap, a Sherpa living and working as Uber driver in New York City, far away from his hometown in Nepal. Although he moved to the U.S. eight years ago to provide better education and safer life for his three children, his mind often drifts to the Himalayas that he misses tremendously. Watching a projection of his archival images that he hadn’t seen since capturing them, Serap remembers people he lost on the mountains. Official Selections 2021: Mountainfilm Festival, NY Women in Film Award.
