Synopsis
Ray Tauscher: America’s Forgotten World Champion Motorcycle Racer. In 1931 American Ray Tauscher was the only motorcycle racer to hold four international titles in Australia, England, and France. Recently discovered race footage plus Ray’s scrapbooks, photo albums, and memorabilia tell his life story and exploits in this documentary. Ray attracted huge crowds, was revered by fans, respected by sportswriters, became a local promoter, and was regarded as a well-rounded sportsman. Produced by award winning Portland filmmaker Ned Thanhouser and his photojournalist son Michael, the film recounts the career of Portland’s “Yankee” rider and his rise to international fame as one of the world’s top motorcycle riders.
