Synopsis

‘The Last Wild Race’ is an award-winning documentary highlighting the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race. In February of 2011, 56 adventurers from across the globe converged on Chilean Patagonia for the last wild race on the planet. The Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race is a true expedition, with teams of four racing through lands previously unknown to the human eye. In this race the route is kept secret until the night before the race commences. 14 teams will test themselves in an unforgiving wilderness of fierce winds, icy rivers and impenetrable forests; guided only by mind and spirit, driven on by physical stamina and experience. Racers receive minimal assistance as they traverse over 600 kilometers through the pristine southern Patagonia by means of trekking, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, and backcountry navigation. Racers will decide when to trek, when to eat and if they will stop to sleep. They often cover hundreds of kilometers without seeing a soul. More important than distance however, is the adventure and exploration of one of the most untouched and isolated places in the world. Be inspired by the magical landscapes and fauna, while adventurers take you to new heights exploring nature’s obstacles and combating the harsh weather. The Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race is The LAST WILD RACE on the planet. ‘Best Film’ Vanka Regule Adventure Film Festival, ‘Adventure Sport’ winner Killarney Adventure Film Festival, ‘Best Environmental Film’ Yosemite Film Festival, ‘Best Environmental Film’ Colorado Film Festival, Finalist – New Zealand Mountain Film Festival, Official Selections: Breckenridge Festival of Film & Danish Adventure Film Festival.
