Swissway to Heaven Poster Web

Synopsis

Swissway to Heaven is a film about multi-pitch climbing that showcases the breathtaking mountain ranges and natural beauty of a truly extraordinary country. The amazing footage will take you through the history, ethics, and evolution of climbing in Switzerland. Switzerland is a climber’s paradise, as well as the country where Cedric Lachat was born and raised. Through his unique sense of humor and unbridled enthusiasm, experience the beauty and awe of five of Switzerland’s iconic peaks and mountain ranges: the Eiger, Gastlosen, Wendenstöcke, Lauterbrunnen, and Rätikon. Over the course of two years, Cedric Lachat and his climbing partners (Nina Caprez, Tobias Suter, Mélissa Le Nevé, and Fabien Dugit) captured on film their painstaking efforts to climb the most difficult routes on five of Switzerland’s legendary big walls. Thanks to never-before-seen archive footage and photos, as well as interviews with first ascensionists and tireless route developers the film recounts the evolution of modern climbing and tells the story of an incredible human and athletic adventure.
