Polheim 1920 x 1080

Synopsis

Polheim tells the story of three young explorers given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; to ski across Antarctica with the Antarctic Heritage Trust’s Inspiring Explorers Expedition™ to the South Pole in celebration of 150 years since the birth of Roald Amundsen, the first person to reach the bottom of the world. Not only will they have the physical challenge of ‘man-hauling’ sleds nearly 1000km in extreme weather conditions, they will also face an internal battle – 50 days of isolation in the most remote environment on the planet, with team members who are essentially strangers. The film explores themes of mortality, ambition, family and the history of polar exploration. Spirit of Adventure Award – New Zealand International Mountain Film Festival 2024. Official Selections 2024: Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival, London Mountain Film Festival.
