Synopsis

Adventure filmmaker Alastair Lee, inspired by his long-standing admiration for the Scottish winter climbing scene, finally succumbs to the challenge of capturing its unique spirit and breathtaking environment in this latest endeavor. The recently completed project, considered one of his toughest undertakings, follows top climbers Guy Robertson and Greg Boswell. The film documents their quest for new winter lines in the midst of the challenging 2021/22 season. Despite its adversities, they successfully ascend mythical formations in iconic climbing arenas like An Teallach, Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, Craig Meagaidh and the Cairngorms, marking first ascents of extraordinary features. The narrative, presented from both sides of the lens, introduces a production value previously unseen in Scottish winter climbing. Interviews with Simon Richardson and Helen Rennard provide expert analysis, exploring climbing history, reflecting on recent losses, and offering global context to the unique allure of Scottish winter climbing.
